Sometimes, this band is a joyous ode to the wall-less ideal of music as a state of mind, sans passports. Then, without warning they invoke over-educated middle-class Paul Simon fanatics who’d better serve the planet trapped at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe it’s the smug chick on the cover who looks like American old-money personified, combined with the annoyingly infectious opening track, Horchata, conjuring imagery of fist waving nerds clasping lattes. This perfectly formed ‘world-pop’ gets licensed to tourism TV advertising, enjoyed by parents and rosy-cheeked children alike. That’s why, ultimately, it’s evil – and must be stopped. Chris Murray
