Kid Sister

March 1, 2010

Ultra Violet

RATING:

There’s been a glut of electro/pop/indie acts in recent years, all of them clamouring for the crossover success of M.I.A and Santigold. Chicago’s Kid Sister is the first with a legitimate claim to the title. Championed by Kanye West and DJ A-Trak, she provides a more urban take on the electro-pop formula and comes to the table with a proper, fully formed album. Melding old-school house influences with the latest in Baltimore club, Ultra Violet is fun and accessible. With charisma to spare and radio singles locked and loaded (e.g. Pro Nails), Kid Sister’s debut has been worth the wait. Mikolai Napieralski
