M-Phazes

Good Gracious

RATING:

M-Phazes’ debut has been perhaps the most anticipated in Australian hip hop history. In a short but prolific career, the Melbourne-based producer has assembled some of the most lithe, wonky, soul-fried boom-bap out there; MCs from Drapht to Pharoahe Monch can attest. Good Gracious doesn’t disappoint. Teaming up with Australia’s finest, Phazes once more shows his propensity for matching beats to MCs. The question that lingers, however, is: where are the instrumentals? Good Gracious nails M-Phazes to a specific time and place. His production, however, transcends borders. By Dan Rule
