Always Coming Down

RATING:

“It’s never over,” Hamish Cowan sings on the title track of Cordrazine’s second album, which comes 12 years after their debut. If you’re wondering why this Melbourne band got so much attention at the end of the ’90s, just check out this record. Cowan’s voice glides effortlessly; it’s both soulful and sensitive, while Nick Batterham’s production allows the songs to shine with simple, gorgeous arrangements. Nothing is over-played or overwrought. Always Coming Down is the sound of beauty. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait another dozen years for album number three. By Jeff Jenkins
