OK Go's Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky

February 19, 2010

MAG's Ed. Nimervoll contends that there's far more to this group than a catchy, YouTube shredding film clip.

Many have had eyes on OK Go for some time. Luckily, they’ve evolved without being cast aside by a music industry hungry for immediate success. Which brings us to album three: their previous efforts (entitled OK Go and OK No) are indicative of their essential playfulness. Their innocence and joy are still intact, despite a line-up change; and their core members – playing since they were 11 – remain. Obvious pop fans, they’ve re-focused thanks to producer Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips). Imagine the vocal groove of Prince and the refreshing pop of Split Enz for an inkling.
